Journal of Islamic Educational Research (JIER) is a distinguished, peer-reviewed academic journal managed by the Islamic Education Programme, Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya. Since its inception in 2016, JIER has established itself as a reputable platform for the dissemination of high-quality scholarly work in the field of Islamic education.

Originally launched as an annual online journal, JIER published one volume per year from 2016 to 2024, focusing on foundational research in Islamic education. In response to the growing demand for timely and accessible scholarly communication, the journal adopted a biannual publication format in 2025, with issues released in June and December each year. This change also marked its transition to a fully online journal, enhancing its reach and engagement with a global readership.

JIER is committed to promoting academic discourse that spans a wide range of topics within Islamic educational research, including but not limited to curriculum studies, pedagogical methods, educational leadership, Islamic philosophy of education, and contemporary challenges in Islamic schooling.

The journal is indexed in MyJurnal, Crossref, Google Scholar, and other academic platforms, making it easily discoverable by scholars and researchers worldwide. As part of its mission, JIER strives to serve as a critical reference in both national and international academic discussions, particularly in shaping and advancing the field of Islamic education.
