AI POLICY

AI POLICY

Authors

When using Generative AI tools, authors submitting to JIER Journal are expected to do so responsibly and in full compliance with the journal’s publishing ethics policies.

Any use of Generative AI must be clearly disclosed within the article. This disclosure should include the tool’s full name (along with its version number), a description of how it was used, and the purpose of its use.

This statement must appear in either the Methods or Acknowledgments section of the submission.

Such transparency allows editors to evaluate the responsible use of AI tools. JIER Journal reserves the right to determine whether the work meets its standards of integrity and adheres to its publishing guidelines.

Editors

Editors are responsible for maintaining the quality, integrity, and confidentiality of submitted research. They must protect all manuscript content and related materials from unauthorized access throughout the submission and peer review process.

Using Generative AI tools with unpublished content poses risks such as breaches of confidentiality, intellectual property violations, and data misuse. Since many AI systems may retain input data, editors must not upload any part of an unpublished manuscript—including text, images, or supplementary files—into these tools.

Generative AI may only be used for editorial tasks (e.g., language editing) with prior approval from the Editor-in-Chief, unless already authorized. This ensures ethical and responsible use of technology.

By adhering to these guidelines, editors help safeguard the peer review process and uphold the journal’s credibility

Peer Reviewers

Peer reviewers are chosen for their subject matter expertise and are expected to conduct evaluations independently, without relying on Generative AI to analyze or summarize submitted manuscripts or any of their content. Under no circumstances should reviewers upload unpublished manuscripts, research proposals, or any related materials—such as figures, data, or supporting documents—into Generative AI platforms.

The use of Generative AI by peer reviewers is limited strictly to enhancing the clarity or quality of their written feedback. However, reviewers are solely accountable for the accuracy, fairness, and originality of their assessments, regardless of any assistance received from such tools.
